I have been going *crazy* trying to find
national data for mortality rates of specific drugs or drug types (e.g.,
opioids). I have found DAWN data which compares rates for 38 metropolitan
areas and reports figures per 1,000,000 residents, but I have been not been able
to find simple national data comparable to data for tobacco, alcohol, or even
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Why can I find death rates for
Tylenol but not for heroin?
I realize all the problems of imprecision in
such figures, but I'm trying to get a general comparative picture of
lethality.
Can anyone out there help?
Thanks,
