Stephen- I don't think any title with sex in it needs an apology! :) Although
all these posts are showing up in my spam box - the college's filter is
catching the s word! :)

One of my students was looking at one of these posts and suggested that all
this emphasis by the "heartland conservatives" seems to be on stopping sex -
except conservative sex. :) Funny as that might sound, it is a strategy that's
shown itself over and over as a tendency to promote sex and family size among
one's own group- so long as they don't enjoy it too much and it is just
procreative, I'd guess! (Yes, the student had just been in our human sexuality
class).

Just one more "funny" thread. As department chair, there is at least one
complaint a year that comes into the college about our sexuality course.
Usually the rumors are of the ilk, "He promotes sex toys!" or, "He promotes
promiscuity!" or such. Not funny in and of itself- what is odd/funny is that
the "culprit" who is doing these evil deeds is almost always ME. And I don't
teach the course. Hmmmmm. The closest I ever come to a discussion of sexuality
is in psychopharm courses (when someone asks about X drug being an
aphrodisiac!) or the history of psychology course when we discuss Freud etc.

First, let me apologize for that totally boring thread title. It should, of
course, be "No canoodling in Kansas".

Second, I see a trend in the USA today, and it seems to be no sex for anyone,
under any circumstances (think of the Shakers, for example).

As it happens, here in Canada, we're going in the opposite direction. Our
Supreme Court has just declared that swingers' clubs are ok for Canadians, if
that's what they really want.

In the words of our great prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, "The state has
no place in the bedrooms of the nation nor in the backseats of its teenagers'
cars".
