Hi Nancy:

Without time to look for it now, I know that there was a study that examined the
SAT written portion--the part where you have to read a paragraph and then
answer questions about it--without having read the paragraph, just answering
the questions that followed. The group that did this fared no worse than the
group that read the paragraphs. The point was that the multiple choice format
was not very good at demonstrating any learning based performance.

If I have time I'll try to do a database search or you can try various keywords
like comprehension SAT test construction, etc.

Hi folks,

I am doing a professional development presentation in about 2 weeks on
writing good multiple choice tests.

I'd like to do something interactive to start off. I vaguely remember that
somewhere in the universe exists a "bad" MC test. One where almost anyone with a little test taking savvy can guess the correct answers without knowing much
about the subject.

If anyone knows where I can download or buy this test, I'd be grateful.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
