Web-Based Teaching of Psychology Conference?  Your input needed!  Only 5

to 10 minutes to complete!

[Please return off-list to myself, Sue Frantz, [EMAIL PROTECTED].  Thanks!]

The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (APA Division 2) is

considering adding a web-based teaching conference to its slate of

programming which currently includes activities at APA, an APS

pre-conference on teaching, and the best practices series.  STP is

considering ways of serving psychology faculty who are unable to attend

the in-person conferences.

As part of the task force looking into the feasibility of a web-based

teaching conference, we would really like to hear your views on the

following questions.

1. In the last 5 years, have you attended STP-sponsored programming at

APA, the APS pre-conference on teaching, or the best practices series?

If so, which ones and how often?

2. Where do you teach psychology (high school, community college, 4-year

college or university, other)? Where are you located (state,

province, country)?

3. Have you ever participated in a web-based conference, teaching or

otherwise? If yes, was it a positive experience?  Why or why not?

4. Would you consider participating in a web-based conference?  If not, why not?

If yes, how important are each of the following to you?

            1     2     3     4     5

    (not important)           (very important)

_____  The programming directly addresses the issues I currently face.

_____  The cost of the conference fits within my budget.

_____  It is easy to get into and navigate the conference.

_____  The conference takes place when I'm unlikely to be busy.

_____  The conference includes at least one “big name” presenter.

5. Do you think other members of your psychology department would be

interested in participating?  If yes, and if you were to participate,

would you prefer to view the web-conference on your own or would you

prefer to "attend" sessions with other members of your department?

Our sincerest thanks for your help!
