With the news of some American soldiers committing astrocities in Iraq, Milgram's research has often been alluded to. Some commentators see those astrocities as reflecting some immoral imperative to justify one's action as to what they believe is right in the name of authoritative explecit and implicit demands.According to Milgram,its the reasons that people give for their actions that reflect their stage of moral development.Daniel Ellsberg who wrote the Pentagon papers alluded to Milgram"s research to explain the massacre at My Lai during the Vietnam era.Comments anyone?
