I was just responding to a student question about getting permission to use a test in doing research. I think if you are using tests from a publisher (like a personality test or test of moral reasoning) you would need to buy copies of the test even though research could be considered fair use. What about tests published in journal articles? Is there a need to get permission to use such tests for research purposes?
