The other day in a blog I frequent, we had a discussion about the relative magnitudes of a**loads, buttloads, and sh*tloads, and then someone raised the spectre of the metric buttload.
The buttload is, of course, one of those quaint Anglo-Saxon measurements (like hogsheads, drams, rods, and leagues). The buttload has no exact equivalent unit in metric (although the "buttometer" was briefly considered but reject primarily for aesthetic reasons). The Imperial Buttload is equivalent to 37.283 liters. Of course, the Americans had to have their own buttload, which, unlike the US gallon, is actually LARGER than its Imperial counterpart (US buttload=48.618 liters -- about 13 US gallons).

PS  I find myself doing anything to avoid work.  My apologies.
Indeed. :-)
