Is this a research project or a class assignment to interview someone
who is an experimental psychologist? If this is a student in an intro
class or maybe even a research methods course, they could have been
given an assignment to interview someone in the field. Such an
assignment would not be considered research and thus would not fall
under any IRB requirement. We actually have a course on campus for
1st year students that often requires students to "interview" a
professor in their major as part of getting adjusted to college and
learning about the major they have chosen. I normally get 2-3 of
those students a semester (more when I'm teaching Intro). So, to me
this does not appear to be a research survey, but rather just a
student trying to complete an assignment.
Hope this helps
