So, we're on to warm beer again? :) ....

This is such an old chestnut that so far I stayed out of it, but cannot resist the temptation any longer. In the last 3 or so years I have traveled in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Holland. On no occasion was I served a drink (alcoholic or not, including water) without ice or, where appropriate, without being chilled. So, I am now wondering where my colleagues have traveled, and/or whether I have been protected by a guardian angel?

P.S. Guinness is an exception to this, as it should be by tradition and taste. As I do not usually drink it, I do not know if it too was chilled in some places in Europe. P.P.S. I am also wondering how all this knowledge about chilled drinks will aid good teaching, though I can think of some instances :-)
