In response to my post "Why Don't Psychologists Research the Effectiveness of Their Introductory Courses?" [Hake (2007)], Annette Taylor in her TIPS post of 24 Jan 2007 16:45:22-0800 wrote [slightly edited]:

"When I go to. . . [the URL in the Sotherland et al. (2007) reference]. . . I get a general page about the CLA but I cannot find the article itself. I'd like to read the whole article."

Then in a latter post of 24 Jan 2007 16:48:00-0800, Annetta wrote [slightly edited]:

"Another small glitch: I could not view . . .[Holton (2007)]. . . either, because it is password protected.

Unfortunately the article by Sotherland et al. (2007) is, as far as I know, not on the web. Psychologist Bob Grossman kindly sent me a copy. Searches for "Understanding CLA Performance at Kalamazoo College" (with the quotes) at both Google <http://www.google.com/> and Google Scholar <http://scholar.google.com> yielded zero hits, so I assume it's not currently online. I hope that situation will change.

The post by Holton (2007) was to PhysLrnR. One must subscribe to PhysLrnR in order to access it's archives, but it takes only a few minutes to subscribe by clicking on the archive URL <http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/physlrnr.html>, and then clicking on "Join or leave the list (or change settings)." If you're busy, then subscribe using the "NOMAIL" option under "Miscellaneous." Then, as a subscriber, you may access the archives and/or post messages at any time, while receiving NO MAIL from the list!
