On the other hand the article says that the student's average was an 84 which professors may arbitrarily deem a C. At every school I've attended or taught for, 84 would be at minimum a B-, more likely a B. This type of whimsical grade scale seems to be asking for trouble. Shouldn't there be SOME level of consistency across courses?
