19th Annual Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of PsychologyMarch 2-3, 2007 The 19th annual Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology is sponsored jointly by the Kennesaw State University Department of Psychology and Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning. The 2007 conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta-Perimeter Hotel, conveniently located at 6345 Powers Ferry Road off I-285 at Exit 22, which is one exit east of the junction of I-75 and I-285. The opening W. Harold Moon Keynote Address will be Rescuing the Affective in Teaching and Learning by Patti Owen-Smith and David Daniel will give the evening invited address entitled Do Teachers Still Need to Teach? Textbook-Related Pedagogy and Student Learning Preferences. Concurrent sessions will focus on teaching techniques and issues in courses such as history and systems, introductory psychology, human sexuality, careers courses, statistics, and research methods. Additional sessions will address topics such as teaching online courses, building rapport with students, service learning, quizzes and exams, podcasting, and problem-based learning. A poster session and teaching idea exchange is also scheduled for participants. The registration fee of $195 covers all meals and receptions during the conference. A special reduced conference rate of $120 is available for high school psychology teachers and graduate students and $160 for each of 2 or more faculty from the same institution. A block of rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel is available at the special conference rate of $91.
