In a post a while back, I said there were two interesting things in the
latest issue of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation newsletter
(at http://www.fmsfonline.org/currentnewsletter.pdf )

My previous post concerned Pope's challenge to find a pre-1800 example
of repressed memory. This one is about Elizabeth Loftus' court case
resulting from her brilliant investigation of an alleged case of
repressed and recovered memory (Loftus, 2002).

The woman at the centre of Loftus' investigation sued Loftus for invasion
of privacy, in a case which attracted major attention as a test of free
speech. The FMSF newsletter reported that the California Supreme Court
has now tossed out all but one of the claims against Loftus, and ordered
that the woman who brought the dismissed charges be required to pay
Loftus' expenses in defending herself against them.

One charge was allowed to go forward: that Loftus had misrepresented
herself to the foster mother in collecting information about the case.
Loftus denies this.
