I accidentally cut out the final two lines of the quotation I offered (sorry
to Hugh Foley, who responded that he already sent it on to his wife). I
've searched for years for the author, but can only come up with possibilities:
Teilhard de Chardin or G.K. Chesterton. I suspect it's one of those feel-good
quotes that floated around in the 1970's.
Beth Benoit
"Man was not born to have his hands lashed to the prayer post.
God does not want humiliated knees but feet of fire galloping,
hands caressing entrails of iron,
minds engendering live coals,
lips forming kisses.
I say work, live, think.
And that this which I do is prayer enough, which pleases God highly.
And I will answer for it.
And I say that love is the best sacrament.
That you I love.
I love.
And that there is no place for me in hell."
