The President of Cal St.- Long Beach explains why graduation rates are a
lousy measure of a school's success:
"Everyone knows that to get your graduation rate up, the best way to do
that is turn away all the academically challenged students and there is
evidence of this all over the United States."
(Of course, the "other" way is to drop standards but, oddly, he doesn't
mention that strategy.)
