If you want to study language from how it fails to develop in the traditional
manner;
Take a look at "Genie: The Wild Child" Video from NOVA. A 12 year old was found
chained to a potty-chair in Southern Calif. She did not have language.
Childrens Hospital tried but failed.
Supports Chomsky's LAD and Ludenborg's theory of Language acquisition and
puberty. You could also get some of that in the movie "Nell." Better acting in
Nell but the issues are not as clearly defined. (The dead infant-twin is
confusing and not explained.) in Genie you have the feral child, child abuse,
retardation, careerism, jealousy, the use of the courts to extort money, Govt
support of research, failure to define the research on the part of the hospital
and maybe, just maybe, just a little greed.
