Claudia Stanny [EMAIL PROTECTED] ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY and CLINICAL OR COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY The University of West Florida seeks to fill two tenure-track positions, at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2008 in the area of Cognitive Psychology and Clinical or Counseling Psychology. The Cognitive Psychology position (#100450) includes the following duties: 1) teaching undergraduate and graduate (MA) courses such as Experimental Psychology, Human Learning, Memory and Cognition, and Laboratory in Memory and Cognition at the undergraduate level and courses such as Advanced Cognitive Psychology and Research Design in Psychology at the graduate level, 2) establishing an active, programmatic line of research that includes supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, 3) serving on thesis committees, and 4) participating in professional service. Required qualifications include the following: Doctorate in Psychology from a regionally accredited university with a specialization in Cognitive Psychology and strong evidence of potential for achieving excellence in research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to individuals who can initiate work in the areas of Health Psychology, Human Development, Human Factors or Sensation and Perception. Potential for success in pursuing extramural funding and expertise in Quantitative Psychology/Statistics preferred. There are opportunities to work collaboratively with local schools, the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, and local military facilities, such as the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory. The Clinical or Counseling Psychology position (#113360) includes the following duties: 1) teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate (MA) students in the clinical/counseling domain, 2) establishing an active program of applied research that emphasizes student involvement, 3) supervising internships and theses, and 4) participating in professional and community service. A Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited university and completion of an APA sanctioned internship are required. Licensed or licensed eligible preferred. The Psychology Department has 15 full-time faculty members, 500+ undergraduate majors and 100+ graduate students in MA programs in Counseling, I/O, and General (Experimental) Psychology.
