Two questions:

Does anyone know of any research suggesting an interaction between
student enthusiasm for a topic and professor expression of enthusiasm
that would indicate that low performance would be attained by the low
student enthusiasm /high prof enthusiasm group? It occurs to me that
professing enthusiasm for a topic others find difficult may get in the
way of communicating concepts.

Is there a negative correlation between ratings of clear exposition and
rated intelligence of the professor? I like to think that intelligence
would be communicated by making difficult concepts understandable but it
seems many students think a prof is intelligent if they don't understand
what he or she is saying.
