Rob- My guess - the prescriber has a farm? J You are correct that this
is unusual. Perhaps a more conservative explanation is the prescription
is based on concerns some have about the long term use of "stimulants"
to treat ADHD. I have seen suggestions that THC might work with some
aspects of ADHD but this does violate norms or protocol for ADHD, I
think. Also, there are the issues of exposing the client to possible
federal strictures and legal issues as the battle over those issues
continues. The federal government claims publically that it only pursues
the growers/farms who are illegally profiting from sales but we all know
that in practice, this claim doesn't appear to be the case (pun
intended). Tim

Subject: [tips] Marijuana & ADHD?

I have a very questioning class this semester...

A student said her brother has ADHD and was prescribed medical marijuana
to help alleviate symptoms, particularly insomnia. Now, I know I'm in
liberal California, but I would think that this practice is fairly
unusual and would not alleviate many symptoms.

Given that I regularly experience insomnia, I may get a referral from
the student for the doctor's name.

Does anyone have further info of how pot would help ADHD--other than the
relaxation, maybe?

Thanks,
Rob
