There you go again, Beth, espousing your Eurocentric bias.  Haven't  
you learned yet that Michael is the official arbiter for these kinds  
of situations?  (I hope I haven't driven more "subscribers" from the  
list, and by the way that really sticks in my craw.  There are  
sometimes, not often, topics that I am not interested in or think are  
more trivial than I have time for, but this is my favorite list.  I  
just delete things I don't want to read).

And in regard to Nancy (whom I greatly respect for a number of  
reasons including her dedication to her profession, her students, and  
even more importantly to her daughter) I would say that she did more  
than was required and that if the student ever brings it up again  
(especially in class) I would bring up some of the other kinds of  
"stupid" questions that he asked and reminded him, and the class (if  
she hasn't already), that during menses, we can occasionally find  
evidence that there was a fertilized ovum that was expelled.
