I couldn't get the programs to run either and I installed the newest
version of shockwave.
I share your frustration with all of the version-dependent software and
brand-dependent web sites.

I am getting very frustrated with older and newer versions of software that need older and newer versions of add ons that aren't compatible. I believe that because of our version of webCT I have an older version of both shockwave and a java plugin.
I suspect this is the root cause of my inability to access the programs at this
website and it frustrates me because I am so sure that is the correct
connection.
Now, does anyone have any help with the mismatching plug ins and add ons?
