Originally, if memory serves, she suffered profound loss of language and other left-hemisphere functions. She has since developed a number of talents that she was previously unaware of including making stained glass sculptures and of "anatomically correct" brains. She was the one seen on video (Nova?) relating her experience the morning of the stroke- at one point she has the thought, "So this is what my patients have been experiencing. Neat!" I can only admire or wonder at that level of scientific curiosity in such a time of tragedy.
