I thank all of you who provided graphic descriptions of what lies ahead
for me if I persist in my folly. I may not take your good advice but at
least now I wake up in the night screaming. Fortunately, I have a very
thick skull, as you can see, so at least I have that protection. In
addition, I am, unlike those who wrote, not a hot-shot rider, and I ride
at considerably less than 25 miles per hr, nowhere near cypress stumps,
and certainly without toe clips.

My style might be closer to walking on wheels, and I do it in a semi-
rural environment, where the only hazard is a long steep hill and,
unfortunately, frequent logging trucks which barrel through town. But if
one of those eighteen wheels hits, I don't think a helmet will help.

I do appreciate your concern. I just hope you don't have the opportunity
to say I told you so.

Stephen
