Just wanted to thank everyone on this list who contributed to the recent discussion regarding the facts and the myths surrounding the Kitty Genovese story. I read the article in American Psychologist in great detail and then decided to make this the topic of my latest podcast. The article was, as they say, a real eye-opener.
The article makes many good points, even outside of the factual errors of the case. For example, they point out some reasons why the parable continues without question in our textbooks as well as covering our cultures' distrust of groups in general. An excellent article that would make for a great student paper or presentation. Thanks again for alerting me and the group to it.
