I freely acknowledge I'm not a Brit, but am a frequent visitor. Orwell? Freud? And the rest...they don't tell me the Britain I've seen. Brit tipsters? What do you think??
Must it only be books?? I nominate to the list a wonderful musical called "Blood Brothers." It's the story of fraternal twins separated at birth and raised in different social classes in Britain, until destiny brings them back together with disastrous results. It's made it across the big pond here and there, so if anyone has a chance to see it, I promise you'll love it. It's a really enjoyable musical, but also very telling about the British class structure. It's not cutesie, but rather a Shakespearean-type tragedy, but with songs that will grab you. Humor, pathos...geez, when did I turn into a drama critic??? Beth Benoit Granite State College Plymouth State University New Hampshire ---
