Yes, our department has also begun deliberation? on this issue with the 
original intention of joining those rebuking apa.   It IS interesting to listen 
to after having taught critical thinking classes.  So far, I guesss there is 
agreement we do not like Hitler, and George Bush is not very popular either.  
Feelings about the apa are mixed tho the complicity of such professional 
organizations in Nazi Germany was alluded to.  Zimbardo's "classic study" is 
linked to many things.  We are waiting for further presentations on this issue 
before deciding.  
     Have other departments discussed this controversy?  I would like to hear 
more sides to the issue.   I am also curious as to the implications for any  
involvement of psychologists in military or governmental work, security work, 
etc.  For that matter, what about involvement in consulting for large corporate 
entities engaged in questionable ethical practices.  What has been the response 
by those psychologists in apa division 19? --Military psych?   Gary
