Those of you who believe strongly in the value of liberal arts
education, especially in the "critical thinking" aspect of it, really
must immediately read this editorial from today's Inside Higher Ed. It
gives, to my mind, a good accounting of why liberal arts is foundering
so badly these days (although I can't really say I have much confidence
in the ultimate success of his proposed "solutions").
