For about the past seven years, I've had a similar problem with the
letter "W," but probably for very different reasons....

My name's not Michael, but one website says this, unattributed:

"It is known that Darwin sometimes spoke with a stutter. Apparently,
when puzzled during a conversation he pronounced the first word of a
sentence with a slight stammer, mainly words starting with the letter
"W".

The website belongs to David Leff, who describes himself as "an amateur
scholar of the History of Science".  He would probably respond to a
query on his source.  He claims to have actually read widely on Darwin.
