Michael- Yes we do remember it and that it has been impossible to replicate.
Conjecture beyond a non-effect seems a bit pointless. Tim

Subject: [tips] Speculating: hemispheric sleep conditioning

Hi dudes and dudettes:
Remember the classic studies done by Miller and Di Cara *sp) purportedly
demonstaring operant conditioning of so called autonomic responses?
Do you think that it is possible to train subjects to generate sleep in one
hemisphere (with of course the stages only in that hemisphere) while the other
hemisphere
is active?
Hoe about sleep patterns in split-brain subjects? And what about sleep
patterns in DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder)? Is it possible to delineate
which
one of the 12 personalities is generating a specific delta spindle?
