Hi Robin & Everyone,
You might be thinking about research by Lynn Liben and Becky Bigler
on Gender Schema Theory. They have an SRCD monograph with
development and analysis of scales and sub-scales that even pre-
schoolers can answer (citation below). What I feel it particularly
interesting is how they distinguish who *should* do things from who
*does* do things (endorsement versus awareness of stereotypes). Best
wishes with your research!

I have a student who wants to do some work on gender stereotypes
and in our discussion I was trying to remember who and where is the
research done with preschool children asking them to indicate who
does??? by pointing to dolls (Barbie and Ken type dolls). The
questions are things like....Who cooks the dinner? Who mows the lawn?
Any suggestions? -- in regard to the source, not the answers! :-)
