Thanks Chris for the post--interesting read.

 

I'm certainly glad we aren't there yet (especially the domed cities--yuck!)

I think there was a Simpson's show where Springfield was 'domed', but Homer came to the rescue.

 

I also recall seeing a tv bit showing poeple in the 30's? about what life would be like in the 60's I think.

It showed the 30's people filing past dioramas depicting essentially a life of leisure (always the siren call of technology) where the average citizen worked at home and had their own personal flying machine.

 

There's never any mention of war or poverty in these predictions, and it's always technology which solves all our problems.
