A professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has a requirement in one
of his classes that students sell a specific amount of UCF football tickets to
pass the course.Students who do not sell tickets flunk the course. It is
reported that the class sells $30,000 worth and this is positive for the
school.Apparently,there is nothing
wrong with that.I guess this sounds like a practicum.
As a matter of fact,I can see some benefits in having students in a class
raise money for some good causes such as shelters for the homeless, domestic
abuse shelters, and so on. But should a grade be contingent on this practice?
And would students do this if no grades were involved?
Btw,how do tipsters feel about mandatory payroll deductions for the United Way
or the American Red Cross?
