Budapest and Political correctness the 1950s Mike, I don't think there was ever an interchange between Budapest (Hungary) and Bucharest (Romania) in My Fair Lady. And, not that this is an expert opinion, but I played Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and researched the play's history at that time. I never heard anything about a Bucharest/Budapest substitution. Beth Benoit Granite State College New Hampshire Hi, Good for him to study abroad. I think it is an opportunity to see another world, people etc. I do not know what can I say about Budapest !!!! The capital of my country is Bucharest. Budapest is for Hungary. It is a different country. I know that Hungary is very nice country, with nice people .Budapest is a big city with a lot of history, with a very nice landscapes. It is on Danube( a big river which come from Germany and go away to Romania) . I do not know anything about their educational system. Good luck ! Bucharest for Budapest -=-Back before most of you folks were born (circa 1956) My Fair Lady was having an outstanding run on Broadway here in NY. One of the songs in My Fail Lady contained the word Budapest but because of the Hungarian anti-communism uprising, the play deleted Budapest amd replaced it with Bucharest. mike Michael J.
