As the cross-cultural dude on Tips,I would like to ask what is a super fan? 
Is someone standing in line overnight to purchase an xbox more of  an xbox 
fanatic than the one who waits for a future purchase?
As to someone talking besides a friend and not getting attacked-it could be 
that the person does  not want to confront
the friend and the intruder at the same time or it could be that some prior 
arrangement may have been made with the person already in line.
The  nature of activity could also be critical.I did not care for U2,( 
Iliked The Cure).
This study is limiting.Researchers kept  on going to U2 concerts and did not 
vary other stimulus conditions.Of course,I am aware that variation may not 
have been possible.But again,there was an  anthropologist  on the research 
team and that  person  should know the difference between emic and etic 
variables -too many artifacts(no pun intended)
