If you look at my response to Michael's original post, you will see
that the figure is based on exit polls from the California election.

Given that religious people are more prone to be against gay marriages,
that Blacks (among others) tend to be more religious, and that the
Baptist church (among others) has explicitly come out against gay
marriage, the result does not seem that surprising.
