might have shaped his existential approach.Cat Stevens apparently had a 
critical illness which shaped his conversion to Islam.Victor Frankl (sp)
apparently developed his logotherapy from war time experiences.And it is 
alleged that O H Mowrer's introduction
of the "hope" in learning theory was probably related to his addiction to 
alcohol.
Are there other examples of critical mass experiences like the aforementioned 
leading to creatuive psychological theorizing?
