For those of you who know, today is the Winter Solstice! A time to celebrate the reversal of lengthening darkness, the increasing of daylight, and, perhaps more importantly, the end of the semester (except for those poor folks whose semester doesn't end until December 23 or beyond). Let the celebrations begin (like you really need me to tell you that)!
For those of you who don't know, today is the Winter Solstice! Some info about this ancient, international event is available on the following websites: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_pictures/7794421.stm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_solstice http://www.religioustolerance.org/w_solsti.htm Let the celebrations begin! And for those celebrating "Festivus" on December 23, only two more days! I expect there will be a vigorous "Airing of Grievances" and intellectual "Feats of Strength" on TiPS! I hope that all Tipsters spend the appropriate time decorating their Festivus Pole! I eagerly await Tipsters accounts of their Festivus Miracles! For those unfamiliar with the "Festivus" holiday, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus And for those of you celebrating those "Johnny Come Lately Holidays" (you know who you are): Happy Holidays! ;-) -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly ([email protected])
