Paul et al.

I believe the TIPS archives in The Mail Archive
(http://www.mail-archive.com/tips%40acsun.frostburg.edu/) go back to about
October 2001.

Given our focus on the past history of TIPS - a little history lesson :-)

At one time we had all of the archives online at Frostburg and they were
keyword searchable but then the administration starting changing software
without regard to the ability to maintain these archives since we had no other
listserver on campus that needed the archive feature. Despite my expressions
of concern and willingness to work with the group making decisions regarding
the software, the group/individual made a decision without consulting me that
ultimately removed access at Frostburg. This is why I started looking for an
online alternative and thus why TIPS is available at The Mail Archive.

Fortunately, I believe I have copies of all of the TIPS exchanges on CD's.
When I get a sabbatical I plan on working with the present staff at Frostburg
to see if they can be recovered and put in a searchable format. If this fails
then I will be contacting The Mail Archive or similar groups to see what they
may be able to do. I also hope to write a history of TIPS and extract the key
activities, ideas, etc. and publish it in some format.

On a side note, if anyone will be attending the Eastern Psych meetings in
Pittsburgh in March and wants to get to together for lunch, drinks, etc and
talk about the history of TIPS, let me know.

How far back does the archive go?
