As I look back,I must say that some of the best Psychology texts I have read are by Jewish authors. The texts are usually full of scholarly materials and contain a depth of analysis that I have not perceived in other texts. When I think of texts in Intro (Ornstein) and the other area Social Psych texts (Lippa) and Psychology of Learning processes (Melvin MarX) I only have admiration for that intellectual tradition. And of course the basis for this is a religion and culture that value wisdom as the highest gifts endowed to mankind. As I look back on my academic paradigm,it was the Jewish Chairpersons who provided me admission to their grad programs. There was Dave T. Herman ( gone but not forgotten) at Wichita State and Sam Brown at Mizzou.Btw.I was the first black to receive a grad degree in Psychology from Wichita State and the first black to receive a PhD in Experimental from Mizzou. Yes,in my opinion, texts by Jewish authors have been very stimulating. I still think that the test bank of Bernstein is the best.
