Just curious as to how many tipsters subscribe to the principle of Academic
nullification. This principle states that professors snould be cognizant of the
characteristics of students in class amd should make allowances for factors
that have contributed to disparities within the academic preparation for the
various samples of students in the classroom. For example: to assume an equal
playing field for students from Canadian tribal indigenous nations or low
income African-American or Hispanics with obviously better prepared
privileged students is not realistic. Hence it would be unfair to flunk those
students . Profs should be aware that by just being in the classroom all
students learn and grades in class should not be based on test performance
alone.
As a note I tell students that as a prof I am there to help them not to "hurt"
them. " So dude, here is a passing grade.
Now go study."
