Dear Tipsters,

I was interested in the a/b/c/d links to percentage grades.

At our university, we still work with raw percentages.

However, at one time, we did use a system like this:

A, B, C, F

As Stephen has pointed out, 50% is the pass and was the cutoff between A, B, C
and F.

But for your interest, these were the definitions of A, B and C:

A - 80% and up.
B - 65 to 79.
C - 50 to 64.

Sincerely,

Stuart

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies (and your kind words, Joan). As you
probably, and correctly, assumed, I am very torn about this one. Nothing is
ever clear cut and I will continue to consider all that you have said. Each of
you who has taken time to answer has provided me with food for thought. I
appreciate your rationales and will continue to consider all of them. I don't
know how this will turn out, maybe it will be easier than I suspect, maybe not.
But again, thank you all for your responses.

Carol
