Fascination but shouldn't be all that surprising, should it?  Think of how
much the test scores changed for the blue-eyed and brown-eyed children
depending on whether they were treated with respect or not. I was
discussing the possibility of a reduction in racism in general in one of
my classes due to Obama.  One African-American male student stated
emphatically that he was being treated better and with more trust by us
white folks.  I have never felt that I was racist (me! no way!). But to a
certain extent I must have been as I now can detect that I feel more
positive toward African-Americans, which is tough to admit but there it
is.
