The WNYC show "RadioLab" (which is consistently one of the best-produced science radio shows I've ever heard) currently has an 18-min podcast up about the "Obama Effect" (and about stereotype threat, more broadly). One of the most interesting bits of research trivia presented there is a study of putting (as in golf). When the putting exercise was called a measure "sports intelligence," the white participants did four strokes better than the black participants. When the word "intelligence" was dropped from the description, the black participants did four strokes better than the whites. Go figr!
