Be afraid. Be very afraid. First we had "the Three Faces of Eve". Then 
"Sybil" (now revealed as fraud, BTW). Now it's "The United States of 
Tara", inflicted on us, I'm sorry to say, by the talented young 
screenwriter Diablo Cody ["Juno"]. In fact, it's already among us,  
although apparently not where I live.

Get ready for a new deluge of cases of MPD/DID inspired by this ill-
advised programme. CBS News has a pretty fair presentation of two points 
of view on this, first the Temple University psychiatrist Richard Kluft, 
who believes there are possibly millions of cases of MPD walking around 
(make that 12 million, if we multiply that by the average number of 
alters each would have). 

The opposition is represented by the Johns Hopkins psychiatrist Paul 
McHugh, who believes there are exactly....zero cases.
