Developmental psychologists will be saddened to learn of the sudden death of Dr. Michael Shannon. He was a world-renowned expert on lead poisoning in children, and an internationally known specialist in the study and treatment of the effects of poisons in children. My daughter was formerly the head nurse at the Pediatric Environmental Health Clinic he headed at Children's Hospital in Boston, and was among his many fans. He was known as the "dancing doctor," as he also danced professionally in Boston in "The Nutcracker" and with the Alvin Ailey Theater. A true Renaissance man.
