Yes, but many (most?) publishers now allow a version of the articles 
published in their journals to be posted on a personal or institutional 
web server as well. Some allow pdfs of the print version. Others allow 
only manuscripts of the pre-typeset version (depending on whether they 
view their typesetting as quality control or as value added). You have 
to read the contract you sign with the publisher carefully. They will 
not often volunteer this information.
