Well he did not go looking for the mythical Nessie, but amidst report that there
was once a tropical zone in Scotland ,Darwin decided to make a voyage to the
area. You see millions of year ago Scotland was
a part of North America and geographic activities caused it to drift across the
ocean and it ended up on top of England.Similarity of origin and geological
digs led to the discovery of fossils of flora and fauna comparative to those of
other areas familiar to Darwin.Darwin speculated about the possibility of
Galapagos type adaptations
up there. It was Agassiz who concluded that the Loch Ness area was the result of
glacier activities, hence nullifying Darwin's hypothesis. Darwin admitted that
he was wrong and subsequently apologized.
