Here is a New York times article from today about Susan Boyle ("unlikely singer
becomes a sensation on YouTube).

In the article they mention another sensation from the show (Mr. Potts) who
went on to win the entire competition
Here is the clip from his first audition.

So what is the tear factor here? Perhaps more than just the underdog proving
the smirking judges wrong? What are the underlying psychological principles
about these clips gathering so much attention (according to the NY Times the
Mr. Potts clip has been viewed 43 million times).
