A side note:

You cite Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in your note, who is one of the most well know
African-American scholars in the world who grew up in the same small West
Virginia town that I grew up in - Piedmont, WV and attended the same small high
school (Piedmont High School) and the same small junior college (Potomac State
College, Keyser, WV). Not sure how large Skip's (his nickname growing up) high
school class was (he graduated about 4 years before I did but since our high
school was 7th-12th grades we were there at the same time) but my graduating
class was a typical size - 33 students.

Nothing real important, but I am just proud to say we grew up in the same small
town.

Bill

I would suggest that you also read what Henry Louis Gates, Jr. had
to say about this book. See:

or, using the latest in TiPS craze, DickensURL:
