Here is a prediction brought to you by my psychic powers. Tenure will be subsumed under the needs of business and will become a distant memory which will also eventually fade.
Research will be wholly in the service of what is profitable and useful for government, business and technology. Liberal arts education will be considered a luxury which a technologically advanced society can no longer afford. Education will be almost completely oriented to produce skilled individuals in the pursuit and operation of technology. A remnant of education (only for those with the highest IQs and correct worldview) will remain for the education of individuals in order to create new advances in the science of technology and political control. ...So that we can all have a better life :) --Mike On Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 12:45 PM, Jim Clark <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi > > Not just the public ... in a 2006 Behavioral and Brain Sciences paper, Ceci > et al provided empirical data that they concluded was inconsistent with the > rationale often given for tenure. > > Take care > Jim > > > > James M.
